Key Insights & Lessons from October

October finished green, with the total at £19,544 (+£1,078 / +5.84%). Tesla did most of the work. However, most of the other growth assets ended the month red.

Tesla Q3, Cybercab and Roadster: Tesla delivered 486,532 cars in Q3. Results on 21 October showed revenue of $28.05 billion (about flat on a year ago) and free cash flow of $1.53 billion after a negative Q2. Tesla’s results slides list the updated Semi line in Nevada and Cybercab in Texas as in production. By late October, Texas registrations for the Robotaxi fleet showed 573 Cybercabs and 507 Model Ys (tracker data from the Texas DMV). The new Roadster was revealed on 15 October, with production planned for 2028. Tesla finished the month +$1,965.19 / +15.49%, with the £60 weekly buys inside that.

SpaceX Q3: SpaceX posted Q3 results on 20 October: revenue of $14.6 billion (up 161% on a year ago) and net income of $4.4 billion. Starlink also reached 13.6 million consumer subscribers. On the call Musk said both the SpaceX and Tesla boards have set up committees of independent directors to talk about a merger. So far, no terms are agreed. Earlier in the month reports said SpaceX was in early talks to borrow about $40 billion to buy NVIDIA chips. However, nothing was signed. SpaceX still ended October −$165.05 / −4.89%.

Other Growth Assets

NVIDIA: The share price fell four sessions in a row to $229.28 by 9 October after a Financial Times report said OpenAI revenue was running lower than earlier figures. Then it closed at $212.21 on 22 October in a wider AI and tech sell-off. NVIDIA also pledged $250 million of computing power over five years to UK AI safety research led by Oxford, University College London (UCL) and Imperial. My NVIDIA holding ended the month −$21.99 / −3.50%, with the £10 weekly buys inside that.

Bitcoin and Ethereum: Mostly small moves until the last week. On 29 October Binance confirmed a security breach and Bitcoin dropped to just under $77,000, its weakest in over a month. Bitcoin still finished October +0.63% and Ethereum −6.85%, with the £10 weekly buys into both.

Space Pie: Rocket Lab signed its biggest Electron deal yet at the very start of the month: 20 launches for Synspective from 2028 to 2031. Meanwhile, Seraphim’s SpaceTech tracker put Q3 private space investment at a record $20.8 billion. The pie still ended October −£5.24 / −3.83%.

Quantum Pie: On 12 October IonQ signed a deal to buy Elisity, a network security company, for up to $1.3 billion in IonQ shares. IonQ shares fell about 9% that day. The pie ended the month −£16.47 / −17.02%. A big percentage on a small pot.

Plutus: The PLU token price fell from $0.1553 at the end of September to $0.1338 at the end of October, so my Plutus pot ended the month at about £1,000 (−£174.45 / −14.85%). Lifetime cashback is still £240.

Stable Income & Weekly Habits

Premium Bonds: The pot is £2,025 after the £25 monthly top-up on 21 October. No new prize this month, so prizes stay at £100 lifetime. The prize-fund rate is still 4.35%.

ETF Portfolio: £1,677.83, with the £50 monthly buy.

Matched Betting (Outplayed): +£141.33, taking total profit to £4,617.89, both before subscriptions.

Weekly habits unchanged: Tesla £60, SpaceX £40, NVIDIA / Bitcoin / Ethereum £10 each, Space Pie £8, Quantum Pie £5, ETF £50/mo, Premium Bonds £25/mo.

Roadmap & What’s Next

We’re at 78.2% of the £25k breakout target with the portfolio at £19,544. Next up in November: SpaceX expects Starship Flight 15, with a try at catching both the booster and the ship. The November Premium Bonds draw result is due early in the month. Otherwise, the weekly buys carry on as normal.

Progress to £25,000 breakout bar: core £19,544, 78.2% of target.
