SpaceX is rewriting the rules of space technology. Reusable rockets, Starlink global internet, and Starship ambitions that aim for Mars.

SpaceX is at the forefront of the new space economy, pioneering reusable rocket technology that has slashed launch costs, building the world’s largest satellite constellation with Starlink for global high-speed internet, and developing Starship — the most powerful rocket ever built — with the goal of enabling human missions to Mars and making humanity a multiplanetary species.

My SpaceX Stock Investment Experiment

My SpaceX investment began with a £2,000 lump-sum purchase at the June 2026 IPO, securing me 19 shares at $135 each. This marks the start of what I intend to become one of my largest long-term holdings. Once the post-IPO volatility and hype settle, I plan to add £40 per week through automated purchases — exactly like my Tesla experiment — with the goal of building a SpaceX position that becomes as big as, or even bigger than, my Tesla portfolio over the coming years.

How It Works

  • Sign Up: I use eToro. Open your account in minutes and start trading with ease.
  • Invest: Buy SPCX (SpaceX) with 0% commission on stocks. You can start with any amount that fits your budget, but only invest what you can afford to lose. It’s a long-term play for potential high growth.
  • Grow: I plan to grow this into one of my largest holdings — potentially as big as or bigger than my Tesla position. Track progress on the dashboard and manage everything easily on eToro’s platform.

Safety / Risk Rating

SpaceX Stock (SPCX): ★★★☆☆ (Moderate risk)
Moderate-high risk – newly public name with limited liquidity and valuation updates in the open market. High volatility expected; returns driven purely by capital appreciation as the company scales Starship, Starlink, and other ambitious projects.

Best suited as a long-term (5–10+ years) conviction bet on the multi-planetary future and the growth of the space economy.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Dominant leader in reusable rocket technology with over 60% of global commercial launch market share.
  • Starlink rapidly scaling as the world’s largest satellite constellation, driving strong revenue growth and global internet expansion.
  • Starship program unlocking massive future potential in heavy-lift capability, Mars missions, and point-to-point Earth transport.

Cons:

  • Capital intensive business with regulatory, geopolitical, and competition risks (e.g. Amazon Kuiper, international players).
  • High post-IPO valuation leaves limited margin of safety.
  • Execution and technical risks inherent in developing cutting-edge space systems.
