NS&I Premium Bonds Experiment 2025 Update: My First Win!

NS&I Premium Bonds Experiment 2025 Update: My First Win!

Hey, I’m Marcel, and welcome back to Mars Money Lab! I test passive income ideas so you don’t have to. Let’s dive into my NS&I Premium Bonds Experiment 2025 update. This month was a milestone. I won my first prize ever: £100! After months of steady saving and zero wins, it finally happened in the September draw. I’ve been experimenting with Premium Bonds since April 2024, building up my holdings gradually. With this win, my total prizes now stand at £100, and my overall savings have reached £1,525. New to my NS&I journey? Check out the experiment overview for the basics on how Premium Bonds work and why I’m giving them a shot.

My First Win with NS&I Premium Bonds Experiment 2025

The excitement began on the 2nd of September when NS&I revealed the draw results. Logging into my account, I noticed that one of my bonds had won a £100 prize, marking my very first win after more than a year of investing! I was thrilled. It’s a small but satisfying confirmation that the lottery aspect of the NS&I Premium Bonds Experiment 2025 can pay off, even with the long odds (about 22,000 to 1 per £1 bond). Premium Bonds don’t earn interest, but the tax-free prizes make it a fun, low-risk way to park some cash.

Historical Data: Savings, Eligibility, and Prizes

I’ve been tracking my results since starting in April 2024. Each month, I add a bit more to my holdings, and bonds become eligible for the prize draw after one full calendar month. Check the graph below showing the monthly savings (blue bars), prizes (yellow bars), cumulative saved (orange line), and eligibility (gray line) over time.

I’ve adjusted my monthly savings based on affordability, starting at £100 and reducing to £50 in January this year to keep it manageable and to allocate funds for my other experiments like Tesla or Dividends. Note that the graph starts from April 2024 when I began, with eligibility kicking in from June 2024. The total saved line shows how savings grow, with eligibility trailing behind by two months. This occurs because, for example, if you buy a bond on the 10th of September, you must hold it until the 10th of October, and the next available draw is in November, explaining the delay between the saved amount and eligibility to win for the NS&I Premium Bonds Experiment 2025.

Looking Ahead

With £1,525 now invested (and fully eligible starting in November), I’m hopeful for more wins to come with NS&I Premium Bonds Experiment 2025. The average return for Premium Bonds is around 4.4% (based on the prize fund rate), but it’s all about luck. I’ll keep adding small amounts each month and update you on future draws. If you’re thinking of trying Premium Bonds, it’s a safe, government-backed option. Head over to NS&I experiment to get started. Remember, this is not financial advice; I’m just sharing my experiment.
