NVIDIA September 2026: Hugging Face Deal
NVIDIA has agreed to buy Hugging Face. That matters for this £10-a-week NVIDIA experiment because the same company now also owns a major place where open AI models are shared. This is not just another week of chip news.
This is my experiment, not advice. You can lose money.

The NVIDIA Hugging Face deal
On 2 September 2026 NVIDIA signed a deal to buy Hugging Face.
Hugging Face is a public library for open AI. Founded in 2016, it is where people upload and download AI models, datasets and small apps. More than 18 million developers use it. You can use models there without being locked to one chipmaker. NVIDIA already puts a lot of its own models and data on the site.
As filed, NVIDIA will pay about $11.9 billion to Hugging Face shareholders, plus up to about $1.0 billion in stock to help keep staff. The deal is expected to close in the first half of 2027, if regulators approve it. NVIDIA says Hugging Face will stay open: people can still use other companies’ chips, and they can still upload and download the models they choose.

Why this deal is in the log
I bought NVIDIA because it sells the computing gear used to build and run AI, not because I am collecting every AI brand. Hugging Face is where a lot of those builders already go to find and share models. Buying that platform, and saying it will stay open, puts more of that software side inside the same company I am buying each week. It is still one stock. The risks are still the same: the shares look expensive, other firms will compete, and a deal that does not close until 2027 can be delayed or fall through.
How the weekly buys sit against that
The rule has not changed. £10 each week into NVIDIA on eToro, started late December 2025. I am not calling a record high. For a small weekly plan, the useful check is simple: do I still believe in this company, and do I still buy on schedule when the news is noisy?
Hugging Face does not make a £10 buy safe. It is a real company deal that fits the software side of the same holding. The weekly schedule stays boring on purpose.
