Plutus July & August 2025 Update: Combined Rewards Recap
Hey, I’m Marcel, and welcome back to the lab! I’m diving into my latest Plutus cashback rewards experiment, turning everyday spending into crypto cashback with my Visa debit card. This post covers the Plutus July & August 2025 Update, including updates on PlutusSwap, the final Inverse Difficulty Adjustment (DA) promo, new board announcements, and my personal rewards for the two months. New to Plutus? Check out my first blog post for a full overview of how it works and my results since March 2023.
Sorry for the delay in updates: it was holiday season, and I didn’t have much time to post monthly recaps. So, this time, I’m combining July and August into one big update!
Final Inverse DA Promo and Board Announcements
August brought the final confirmed phase of the Inverse Difficulty Adjustment (DA) promo, ending on August 31, 2025. This allowed users to lock in massive savings: up to £100/month in card top-ups, up to 100% off gift cards, and even £/€100 cashback from brands like Amazon. Further DA adjustments are unconfirmed for now, so if you haven’t stacked your Rare PLU yet, this was the last chance to maximize perks before potential changes.
On August 26, CEO Danial Daychopan announced the new Plutus Board and Advisors, including fintech veteran Perry Blacher, along with regional directors for day-to-day governance. This is part of a restructuring under a holding company to support international expansion, with plans to launch in the US and UAE soon. Exciting times ahead: Plutus is gearing up for bigger markets while keeping the focus on sustainable rewards.
And the PLU burn schedule continued, with the next batch reducing supply further to enhance scarcity for Rare PLU holders like me (still holding my 3,159 PLU!).
Perks Breakdown
On the personal side, I don’t have my Metal promo anymore, so my perks value returned to £10 per perk. As a Veteran level user, I have 8 perks (5 base + 3 from premium subscription), which gives me £80 of perks value per month. I focused on stacking perks at retailers like Sainsbury’s, ASDA, Tesco and Shell to maximize returns.

I also switched to a yearly premium subscription on 13th August to save some money, taking advantage of a promo that offered 2 months free on annual billing, £120 in PlutusSwap card top-ups for 1 PLUS (£10/month), all Premium perks uninterrupted for a year, and a bonus of 2 cashback offers of £5 each from Amazon & Lidl. The math works out great: monthly Premium is £19.99/month (£239.88/year), but annual is £199.99/year, saving £39.89 instantly, plus £120 in top-ups and £10 in cashback, for a total returned value of £169+ and an effective cost of £69.99/year.

With the recent update from Plutus, perks and PlutusSwap now reset on the same date as my subscription payment, making it fairer and simpler. For me, that’s the 13th of every month from now on. That’s why I have some perks not yet used, as the reset day is tied to my subscription day.
My Lab Results: Plutus Cashback Rewards for July & August 2025
Here’s the recap:
– July 2025: Earned 10.75 PLUS (not much spending, mostly essentials). Received £7.96 in cashback for purchases.
– August 2025: Earned 63.56 PLUS with more activity. Received £19.98 in cashback for purchases.
Total for the two months: 74.31 PLUS earned, and £27.94 in cashback.
I use PlutusSwap monthly to convert 1 PLUS to £10, plus I get 1 gift card of value £10 for free, and cashback on top! It’s a great way to extract real value from my earnings without impacting the ecosystem. Not my highest months, but the combined perks and PlutusSwap top-ups made it worthwhile: net positive savings overall.

Lab Reflections: Maximizing Plutus Cashback Rewards
Plutus Cashback is a new feature, and I’ve already received £27.94 back in just two months! That’s a lot compared to some loyalty programs like Nectar, where it usually takes me a whole year to earn around £40 to spend on Christmas.
I activated cashback rewards at brands like Tesco, Shell, Sainsbury’s, McDonald’s, and Amazon in August, each enabled by a one-time swap of 1 PLUS, boosting my everyday spending options.

Currently have 3 ways to spend PLUS and convert it to pounds: cashback, giftcard £10 per month and Plutus Swap £10 per month. So each month I have more than I pay for the subscription. Premium is £19.99 per month but last month got £10 swap + £10 giftcard and £19.98 cashback. Not to mention value of PLUS earned with Plutus cashback rewards!

Looking ahead, with the US launch and potential community governance updates, I’m optimistic about Plutus’ growth. I’ll aim to get back to monthly posts starting September. What are your thoughts on the new cashback feature or the expansion plans? Drop a comment below!
