Plutus Update February 2026: Legend Level Unlocked + Migration Downtime Blues

My Plutus journey rolls on, but it’s been a quiet few months on the blog since my last cashback recap in November 2025. Why? The card’s been mostly offline thanks to their big bank migration—no full spends, no top-ups, no daily stacking. More on that below, but first…

Big personal win: I’ve upgraded to Legend level! 😎 To hit those higher rewards caps and extra perks, I scooped up more PLU while the price is near its all-time low (~$0.13 as of mid-Feb 2026). Rather than stressing over the price drop, I grabbed more on the cheap—hehe, converting market weakness into long-term wins!💪 Stacking while it’s cheap feels like a no-brainer.

Plutus Migration Update 2026: The Downtime Reality

Plutus announced back in December 2025 that they’re ditching their old banking partner (Modulr) for a new one. Reason? Modulr couldn’t deliver basics like payments, direct debits, or Apple Pay, and it was holding things back. The goal: a more sustainable setup with merchant-funded rewards instead of relying on old models.

Sounds smart long-term, but the switch has meant a full pause on card features since late 2025:

• No spending or top-ups with my shiny Metal card 😢
• No earning PLUS on everyday buys (fuel, groceries, Amazon—miss you!)
• Utilities like gift cards, swaps, and cashback have been frozen too

It’s a shame—I’ve got this premium Metal card sitting unused while shopping. Real banks usually roll out changes with minimal blackouts, so this extended lockout (over a month for me, longer for some) stings. Subscriptions kept charging, which added to the frustration.

Latest Progress & What’s Coming

Good news: Plutus finally dropped a detailed update with their Feb 20, 2026 Q1 Migration FAQ, and things are moving forward.

• Utility settlements complete—pending gift cards, cashback, and swaps via Modulr have been processed back to accounts.
• 100% PLUS on max caps/perks issued monthly (started Feb) as compensation during the pause.
• All bonuses preserved: Metal perks (remaining ~9 months), Inverse Difficulty Adjustment (IDA, full 12 months protected), and other promos/benefits intact—ready to activate once redemption returns.
• On-chain goodwill gifts (PLUS) sent in late Jan 2026 as a thank-you for sticking around.
• Utilities redemption (gift cards, swaps, etc.) aims to return in **Q1 2026** (any day now? Fingers crossed).
• New full cards (with send/receive, multicurrency, Apple Pay) targeted for this summer… 🙃 I hope virtual cards will be quicker?

That said, it’s a shame these details only arrived in mid-Feb. In December 2025 we mostly just got the Modulr contract end notice, with very little info on timelines or the full impact of the pause. Better communication then could have cut down on speculation, unknowns, and frustration for the community. Plutus leadership decisions sometimes feel like a big mystery to me and we just have to roll with it as users… but hey, at least progress is happening!

Maybe Plutus had to make some tough calls too? The Modulr contract end wasn’t fully planned on their side, or things escalated faster than expected, leaving them scrambling for the next banking partner. Who knows what really went down behind the scenes? There must be an explanation, but as a closed business, we might never get the full story. Just wanted to note that here as a possible reason for the chaos—it’s frustrating for us, but they could have been caught off-guard as well.

I’m still optimistic. This migration to a merchant-funded, more reliable setup could make Plutus even stronger in the long run. Can’t wait to fire up that Metal card again for seamless stacking and those top-tier perks!

• Level: Legend – higher caps, better rewards incoming!
• Card usage: Paused due to migration—no new cashback or PLUS from spends this period.
• PLU moves: Bought more on the dip to unlock Legend benefits.
• Utilities: Missed the routine gift cards/swaps/cashback, but settlements are done—hoping for quick redemption rollout.
• Overall vibe: Frustrated by the downtime, but loyal and excited for the upgrade. Better days (and full stacking) ahead!
